The Tumble Bear Island Resort (T.B.I.R) program is specifically designed to focus on eight areas of your child’s development. These areas or systems ultimately lead to developing the whole child – an imaginative, persistent, social, problem solver. Each week we focus on one of the systems: Attention, memory, language, spatial, sequential, motor development, problem solving, and social thinking. We do all this through movement. Story time is also a trademark within the T.B.I.R. Program. this is key in developing a community at the beginning of class and a great way to get everyone to build and use their language and increase attention and focus. The Belief System - The Whole ChildThe ages of one to five years are the critical years in brain development. Brain development during these years is more than any other period in a child's life. What happens during this period sets the foundation for the rest of their lives. This is also the period where children develop the traits and habits that set the stage for future growth. "Early movement education creates explosive brain connections. 80% of brain wiring is done before 5 years of age." We know that over 50% of input into the brain comes through the motor strip (or movement). Kids learn by moving. My priority is to create a consistent and rewarding program experience for your children. That is why we work from specifically crafted 16 weeks of lesson plans and have an ongoing training and mentoring program for everyone. The curriculum is constantly being revised to reflect the most current research to craft the most effective learning environment. All programs for kids should first and foremost be FUN. In order for anyone to have fun they must first S.A.I.L. – be SAFE – ACCEPTED – INCLUDED – LEARN. We have specific rituals and specific language crafted into each program to create this environment.Play with Purpose. We all learn best through play. Play by definition means to try, to experiment, to discover. There is no right or wrong, there is only Joy! Through the use of gymnastics, children discover the joy of movement. We teach standard USAG gymnastics skills in a unique setting using a variety of props and themes. Because of this we are able to create a special community of learners unlike any other. The Island StoryBecause Tbir (our stunt bear from China) loves to tumble so much he wanted to build a tumbling school on the island. The monkeys, lions and birds on the island didnt want to play, so Tbir set off around the world to find others who would want to come back to the island and learn to tumble. In Australia Tbir met Katie Koala. In New York City Tbir met Tammy Teddy Bear. And in Asia, Tbir met Sammy Sun Bear. Together they built the T.B.I.R School and run the programs. Each bear runs a different level of the program. Soon after the school was built, the lions, monkeys and birds joined in to help. Every day is now a unique experience on the island. You never know what is going to happen.
